It’s no surprise that PS5 has been dominating the gaming industry recently. In the last couple of years alone, the popular platform has had more than half of the console games market share!

With nearly 5 million units sold in 2023 and another 4.1 million in 2024, PlayStation is clearly on a winning streak.

Looking ahead to 2025, it looks like there’s another impressive list of PS5 games on the horizon. Here are the five most hotly anticipated titles.

2025’s Most Anticipated Upcoming PS5 Games

RPGs, adventure games, and shooters dominate the list of 2025’s most long-awaited PS5 games. Let’s countdown from five to one.

5. Monster Hunter Wilds

Developer: Capcom

Genre: RPG, Adventure

Platforms: PS5, PC, Xbox

Release date: February 28, 2025

With many titles, anime series, comics, and merchandise, the Monster Hunter franchise has made huge waves over the last few decades. Its latest entry looks to deliver all the things that fans have come to expect. These include lots of monsters, moments of suspense, and beautiful landscapes.

This third-person ARPG lets players explore open-world environments, customize weapons, and join multiplayer challenges. The new features include environmental interactions, mounts, and many dynamic monster behaviors.

This all means that you might need to take on a Rathalos during harsh weather conditions. Add the fact that this is the first real current-gen installment in the series, and you’ve got yourself another Capcom winner in 2025.

4. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

Developer: Warhorse Studios

Genre: RPG, Adventure

Platforms: PS5, PC, Xbox

Release date: February 11, 2025

When it comes to chaotic civil wars in 15th-century Bohemia, Kingdom Come: Deliverance has to be at the top of the list. Fans of 2018’s hit ARPG will be champing at the bit to tie up all of its loose ends in the highly anticipated sequel.

Spoilers ahead: To recap, the first installment ended with:

  • Henry retaking Talmberg
  • Discovering that he’s Lord Radzig’s illegitimate son
  • Proceeding with Hans Capon to carry on the fight against Sigismund.

There are sure to be even more epic quests, RPG elements, and medieval immersion in this second part. The question is – will this installment tie serve as an epic conclusion? Or could there be more cliffhangers by the end, setting up a third act? All will be revealed very soon.

3. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

Developer: Kojima Productions

Genre: Shooter, Adventure

Platforms: PS5

Release date: 2025

Is there anything that Hideo Kojima can’t do? The MGS mastermind has recently succeeded with his exciting action single-player Death Stranding

One of the key selling points of the original entry was the star-studded cast. These included Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Margaret Qualley, and Lea Seydoux. But the compelling story of a post-apocalyptic world where destructive creatures roam the Earth? This was a mouthwatering prospect for any lover of action-adventure games.

Its upcoming sequel, On the Beach, has added new cast members such as Elle Fanning and Shioli Kustuna. The story picks up where the first installment left off—with Sam continuing his journey as he attempts to save humans from extinction. Kojima was inspired by the global pandemic while re-writing the sequel.

2. Ghost of Yotei

Developer: Sucker Punch Productions

Genre: Action-adventure

Platforms: PS5

Release date: 2025

It takes some courage to leave behind a previous game’s storyline and produce a standalone, anthology sequel. After the success of Ghost of Tsushima, that’s what the guys at Sucker Punch Productions committed to with Ghost of Yotei

This spiritual successor takes place 300 years after the events of the first game, set in the region of Ezo, surrounding Mount Yotei. As the female hero Atsu, players can navigate this lawless area full of secret perils and snowy tundras.

The only other detail we know so far is that Yotei deviates a little from the organized samurai setup that was integral to Tsushima‘s story.

1. Grand Theft Auto VI

Developer: Rockstar Games

Genre: Shooter

Platforms: PS5, Xbox

Release date: Late 2025 (hopefully)

There might not be a more hotly anticipated game (on any console or platform) than the long-awaited sixth installment of the Grand Theft Auto series.

Lovers of Vice City will be excited to dive back into this iconic fictional city. The main difference is that we are trading in flashy ‘80s, Miami Vice, and Scarface imagery for a broader, present-day experience. This time, Vice City is just one place of many that you’ll get to explore in the larger fictional state of Leonida.

If the viral trailer is anything to go by, expect to experience a lot of Florida Man, Tiger King, and other crazy Sunshine State-esque stereotypes. Combine all this with a modern twist on Bonnie and Clyde with the classic elements of GTA, and you’ve got yourself what is sure to be one for the ages.

Sure, many fans have joked online about desperately trying to survive in time for the game’s release. But new online capabilities and groundbreaking visuals are all reasons to lock yourself up in anticipation. Rockstar just doesn’t know when to quit.

Truth be told, GTA VI might face more delays, making a 2026 release data totally possible. But hold tight, and keep refreshing your game news pages for more updates!
